District Conservationist Report

EQIP   (Environmental Quality Incentive Program)
  • We sent out letters to 995 producers to promote EQIP, CCRP and Tree Days on Friday, January 4th.  We have gotten 5 responses so far.
 
CSP    (Conservation Security Program)
  • 2008 payments can now be made. 
  • I have held interviews with 94 producers to date.  8 more interviews left.
  • All CSP payments need to be paid by February 1, 2008.
 
CRP   (Conservation Reserve Program)
  • FSA gave us notice that CCRP will continue through March 15, 2008.
  • NRCS has not given us notice that we can work on CCRP yet.
 

Tuttle Lake Watershed
  • Meeting is being held January 14th at 12:00 pm with the NRCS Water Resource Staff from St. Paul.  Martin County, Jackson County, and Emmet County (Iowa) NRCS/SWCD representatives will also be here. 
  • We will be discussing resource concerns of the area and taking a driving tour of watershed.
 

Computers
  • E-mail came from Kasey Taylor on January 4, 2008 that stated that there will only be one computer per Conservation District that is funded and maintained by NRCS.
 

Wetlands 
  • 80 wetland determinations have been made for FY 2008
