CONGRATULATIONS FAIRMONT PHOTO PRESS!!!

Fairmont Photo Press (FPP) has been a staple for Martin County news with their weekly paper and instrumental in promoting Martin SWCD programs.  FPP has been publishing the Martin SWCD Conservation Update January edition since 1982.  In 2007, FPP introduced a June Update edition that provides more timely information pertaining to conservation practices and programs.  The FPP also includes additional articles about our Tree Days – Open House that is held the last weekend in January.

Fairmont Photo Press has been significant to Martin County’s conservation by printing articles, pictures or information that we submit.  The Conservation Update covers all of our programs ranging from State Cost Share to Rain Barrels, individual articles and information taking place at the local and state levels.

FPP has maintained its rural roots and continues to appeal to all ages of readers.  The editors and staff have become familiar with our programs and will ask for articles that are suitable to our area and toward raising education and awareness of implementing conservation programs both in the rural and urban setting.

Through the efforts of the FPP, Martin SWCD has become a more visible entity that residents and its advertisers have become comfortable in asking for our technical assistance.  Without the FPP, Martin SWCD would never be able to afford publishing a newsletter on the scale that we do now.  It is a privilege for Martin SWCD to nominate FPP for the 2009 MASWCD Media Award and we look forward to a long partnership with them.
